Ok it's a really bad idea to stick anything under the cast to scratch itches. If you break the skin, there's no way to treat the injury. No way to wash the cut, to put ointment on it, anything. And it's in a dank, bacteria-ridden environment. I hope you see where I'm going with this. Sticking anything under the cast is just asking to get an infection.A neat trick you can try is scratch your other arm. Wherever the itch is on your broken arm, close your eyes and scratch the same place on your other arm. Very often you'll succeed in tricking your brain into thinking you're scratching the actual itch and it will go away.
Depending on the cast and the itch, I have used a chopstick once and that worked. Or a straw, squish it flat and fish it in there and see if it reaches. If nothing reaches then try really hard to think about something else and the itch will go away.
Don't know if this will workTry itching the opposite wrist--the one without the cast. May fool your brain--and cast itch will go away
