  1. did the pain just start after you quit? I have never heard of that. If you had pain before you quit, it may or may not be due to smoking. My brother actually had a collapsed lung. I quit 2 yrs. ago. Tried several times unsuccessfully, and it seemed to get harder each time. If the pain is really bad, you should get it checked out, you could have simply pulled a muscle, which they say really hurts in that area. Regardless if it due to smoking or not, you should really try not to pick it up again. Stay away from smokers as much as possible. Some people Smoke for their whole lives and are OK, some are only around 2nd hand smoke and get lung cancer. Which one are you? You don't know, so why play Russian Roulette? Source(s): Former smoker

  2. Stop freaking out. Most likely you don't have cancer. I've been smoking for 35 years. Amongst all the other stuff I've done including smoking, I'm still ok. One year. In one year your lungs will be clear and they will start repairing. That is if you make it. I wish you the best of luck. I made it 2 weeks once. I should keep trying. They say practice makes perfect. You have to learn how to quit.
