Should i go to the ER or not? HELP?

Should i go to the ER or not? HELP?
I've had a sore throat since feb 28
I had flu like symptoms for 2 weeks then i got an ear infection and i got antibiotics. I finished them and the ear infection went away or s it seemed.
I've had mild sore throat for the past days and today and yesterda i was ok except for sore neck (super sore right now) I was sitting ast the movies tonight watching watchmen and all of the sudden i got a severe throat SEVERE and my neck pain got severe i managed to drive home and im here right now with my throat sooo swollen and my neck pain so intense..almost stiff but no fever and no other symptoms (except for a little nausea) but i ate a lot of popcorn
If I wait 7 hrs it'll only cost me 100dlls to see a doctor but if i go to the emergency room i'll cost me 5,000dlls and up what should i do? i dont want to die... and i already have medicals bills from last year!

if i got this sick again so fast (1hr) will it get worse by morning??
should i wait a couple of hours???

what should i do???
my parents are sleeping and they know but i dont want to worry them i'm 21yrs old
thanks

  1. If you feel you cannot tolerate the pain it is beneficial you go to the hospital, it could be a simple case of your anti's were not strong enough or that you required another dose which is very common. You may be experiencing severe pains due to your glands being swollen, you have glands that connect from your ears down to your neck. There is no need to be worried you will not die. It is a good sign that you do not have a temperature. As i said if you cannot tolerate the pain go to hospital however if you decide to wait and see your dr in the morning make sure you drink plenty of fluids and try avoiding harsh rough foods such as popcorn.

  2. I suggest you go with pro-biotics (good bacteria to fight infections). You did one cycle of antibiotics, which should have killed all the bacteria in your intestines, but the bad bacteria causing this infection are still there, assuming this infection is a bacteria and not a virus. If you go to the doctor, (s)he may just give you another cycle of antibiotics which may or may not help (-$100. for YOU) ORGo to a health food store and buy 90 pro-biotics for less than $20 (acidophilus and bifidus), take 6 to 9 a day and see how you feel. If nothing else, you will have replaced the good bacteria your body needs to fight infections. I wouldn't go around kissing people until you know what it is for sure. It sounds like it could be strep throat or mononucleosis. You can google these for more info, if you like.

  3. I would go in 7 hours. It may be something bad if you have had a sore throat for that long! my guess is Strep, but if you waited that long you can wait another 7 hours i think, Just get there as ssoon as possible

  4. You need to wait until morning honestly. The emergency room will make you sit for hours in pain and just give you a round of steroids and some pain relever.. It sounds like you have swollen lymph nods (I get this Every year when I get sick Massive pain, stiff neck, sore throat the works) if you have some sleeping pills around take one or two of those then set your alarm for 8am that way you can get in to the doc first thing tomarrow. For your throat you need to gargle either salt water or peroxide both will soothe your throat and reduce the swelling from the sore throat.. as far as lymph nodes.. You need to get a cloth wet with as warm of water as you can handle then put it on your neck/throat this is ease the pain and reduce the stiffness.. Your just sick its not going to kill you.. Wait for the doc.. ps.. Sorry your so sick.. I just got over the flu

  5. Have you felt like this right after eating popcorn before? If so, it could be a food allergy. If you can put up with the discomfort and it doesn't get worse, you could wait it out, but if you get worse, then I'd think about being seen sooner. Most hospitals will help you even if you are unable to pay. Source(s): 2 years CNA, 7 years EMT

  6. Just observe what is happening with you right now. If it keeps getting worse, with out a doubt go to the ER. If it stays the same go to the docs in the morning. Don't wait long. Go in the next 24 hours... either way.
