Should I see a doctor about my headaches?

Should I see a doctor about my headaches?
I've been getting really bad headaches, maybe even migraines, for a few weeks now on & off. This past week I've noticed that they seem to be coming at the same time, 2:30-3 in the afternoon. I haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary or changed any other of my habits in any way. I take excedrin migraine & the pain goes away, but I don't want to have to take pain killers every day for who knows how long. Does anyone know what could be causing my headaches, & do you think it's serious enough to warrant a visit to the doc?

  1. After a couple of weeks, it is very likely that you are actually experiencing rebound headaches from the Excedrin. This happens because you take something everytime that you have pain, and so your body is basically making your headaches worse to get you to take something. This is not a joke! It is a pretty common problem and can happen even with rx migraine medications if they are used too much. Try and work through the next headache you get by laying down with an ice pack on the back of your neck, a cool washcloth over your eyes, a cool dark room, and ear plugs, if you have them. Then try and focus on the sound of the fan or your heart beat, relax, and fall asleep. This is what I do when I have a really bad migraine, in addition to my migraine med. If this does not help, you should see your family doctor and be evaluated for tension headaches or migraines. But, try not to take something everytime you have the slightest hint of a headache. It will actually help. Good Luck Source(s): I have had migraines since I was a kid

  2. Always see a doctor if a pain does not go away.

  3. headaches like wat ur describing could be called 'cluster headaches' the pain will be severe for a few moments then linger for a while, and happen each day.Its possible for them to be caused by stress, lack ov sleep, or being generally run down.If they are that severe that its causing you to worry then maybe a visit to your doc myt be an idea, if only to put ur mind at ease.Simple pain relief and anti inflamitarys cud help in the mean time. Hope ya get sorted soon. X

  4. Most headaches are harmless, but there are some cases in which you should see a doctor promptly:1. Age 40 or older, and no previous history of headaches.2. Headaches that grow worse or are regularly severe.3. A stiff neck in conjunction with the headache.4. Any recent blow to the head.5. Fever, nausea, vomiting, or other symptoms in conjunction with the headache.6. Neurological signs: tingling, problems moving or speaking, memory disturbances, spasms or seizures, vision disturbances, etc.7. A very severe, sudden headache, "the worst I've ever had"; should merit a trip to the emergency room.8. Any cardiovascular history (high blood pressure, a heart attack or stroke in the past, etc.) or certain chronic medical conditions (diabetes mellitus, kidney disease, etc.).
